At Wujal Wujal, a coastal indigenous community 4 hours drive (380km) north of Cairns, the Walker family - sisters, cousins and even nieces - are working as a
close-knit group of wonderfully warm and friendly people sharing the local Yalanji culture with visitors.
Walker Family Tours takes visitors to one of the most beautiful and pristine locations in the tropics - The Bloomfield Falls - a 40 metre waterfall surrounded by the world heritage-listed rainforests of the Daintree.
The Walker women are committed to educating their guests who walk with them along the track to the Bloomfield Falls. As they travel over their ancestral land, they explain in a truly delightful way the lifestyle of the Yalanji people of Wujal Wujal.
What’s unique about this tour is guests are experiencing part of the family’s everyday lifestyle - nothing feels like it comes from a text book. It’s about their deep connection with the land and being inside a living culture.
Bloomfield Falls Tour - Walk with them for 30 minutes to see the Bloomfield Falls, after which Wujal Wujal is named. This is a place of great significance to us, and they’ll share with you their knowledge of the area.
Rainforest Walk - For 2 hours be guided to some of the special places on the Walker Family lands, part of the World Heritage area. Share the Yalanji culture, the history, bush tucker and bush medicine. Afterwards join the Walkers for tea and damper and a yarn-up and have the opportunity to buy art and crafts from the Yalanji people.
Walker Family Tours operates 7 days a week. Guests can self drive from Cairns, Port Douglas, Mossman, Cape Tribulation, Cooktown, or fly/drive via the Bloomfield Airport or choose from a large range of tour operator itineraries that include our tours.
Walker Family Tours are proudly mentored by Freeman Productions.
